It ain't easy being a superstar

Especially in China. Xu Kai is showing he is exceptional at 29. Of course, he's shown his true color from time to time, but who wouldn't with all the stress that comes with the dramas he makes.

Actually, he's a college dropout. The family needed money. He went into modeling and later acting. However, in his first drama, he got a heat stroke. It isn't uncommon for Chinese actors to work under such harsh conditions. Through it all, he's been fat-shamed, filmed eating burgers while nicotine can only keep that girlish figure intact. He was so exhausted during Military Academy that every drink near him was full of Red Bull and all the energy drink did was keep him up at night.

He's had his share of broken bones and even hair transplants. Yeah, those glued-on headpieces in the Wuxia dramas can pull your hair out. But he takes it in stride. Seriously, his craft in acting just gets better. Usually, he gets the serious roles, but one of my favorites was The Court Lady and the fun of watching his character crazy in love with the soon to be Court Lady and going to great lengths to be the person who she would want.
