Martin Sheen was on the cuff of Badlands (1973) playing those bad boys in dire need of mental health. Insert a TV movie (1975) with Linda Blair whose claim to fame is none other than The Exerciost also from 1973. 

At the time Blair was hoping her then-boyfriend Rick Springfield would be the male lead, or so she was told. And then look who showed up?

An escaped mental patient kidnaps an illiterate teenage farm girl and takes her to his mountain hideaway, where they become friends--and, eventually, lovers.
