Against our better judgment, we went into the City yesterday. We planned our usual stops: Natural Groceries and Trader Joe's. Somehow, along the way, a detour happened, and we were off in Warehouse land. It might as well have been a different country.
Talk about taking the long way we ended up in West O far from our destination and of course, got to someone's favorite place Schlotsky's. But does he order his usual? I always get the original. He went for a calzone and hated it.
After all the meandering and bumper-to-bumper streets, we did get to Trader Joe's. There was a guy in the parking lot with a sign asking for money playing his electric violin. Little did I know that he has everything amplified on his laptop and is even faking playing the violin. It was loud, not soft Christmas music. It felt more like a Goth Opera. And of course, the store was packed.
I was on a mission to see if there were still any Jingly Jangly candy treats (they even have it for dogs now, too). Usually, they are out the week of Thanksgiving. There was! But at $9.99 I wasn't the only one who felt my jaw drop. "Oh, well...it's what I came for," said a stranger with his kid. I snatched a canister of it too. this year they have it in little bags, as well for a $1.95.
Still, there weren't the old favorites of shaving cream, but this year there was Hair Wash and I have a feeling it will be a winner in somebody's goodie bag at Christmas.
Great story
