Ezra's impulse told him he was deliriously happy, but then he had to see Dakota and Nav talking as they headed to the food truck, and he ducked back into his trailer.
He thought he might keel over. His heart thundered in his ears until he had to sit down and take a deep breath. Did Dakota even remember? His brow furrowed. Ezra remained on mute. Yes, the passion consumed him with thoughts of her.
She'd let him kiss her first. Of course, he knew he wasn't very good at it. Evidently. Because she came right back and showed him exactly how it should be with tongue, and it about knocked him out. The shock widened his eyes as he took note.
They might as well have been learning taekwondo. The spiritual version. Or was that romantic kind? He was certain of it; she was his life coach in many things.
He caught himself laughing, but then he thought he might be crying. What the hell had happened?
He liked her. Oh, it was more than that. It was a leap he didn't know how to take until he met her, and now he felt Fiona was a thousand miles away in his thoughts.
That was upsetting. He'd always meant to be by her side, no matter what. And yes, maybe he was a fool. A stupid fool. Evidently, Dakota thought so too. She was off being a grownup with Nav.
About then, Han came out of the bathroom.
"What are you doing here?" Ezra was curt as he jumped up. The trailer shook.
"Waiting for you, bro?" Han shrugged.
"I can't have you here!" Ezra looked at Han so hard that he might bust an eye.
"Woe.." Han backed away in surprise and almost fell on the dining table. "Are you starving like me? Is that it? We'd better hurry to the food truck before it goes."
Ezra sighed and closed his eyes. As always, they were never on the same page. Why was Han always his destiny? Ezra frowned, but finally said. "I'm not hungry."
"But it's taco night, and it's only Monday?" Han looked at him blankly.
Ezra shook his head, no. No way could he face Dakota.
"Want me to bring back some food for you? The guacamole really has a kick, you know," Han told him.
Ezra only sighed but finally said, "Sure."
"So uh, you got any cash?"
Naturally, Han was empty-handed. Ezra pulled out his wallet and gave him a ten.
"You know it'll be more than that."
His fingers danced as he laid out his palm. Ezra sighed once more and gave him another twenty. Han left with the money. Ezra set back down, feeling defeated. Why was life like this?
Oh, I hope Han isn't Ezra's destiny, given that last paragraph:

And that's sticky about Ezra and Dakota. No wonder he's avoiding the taco truck!
By the way, happy birthday! I hope you celebrated in style and that those treacherous winds never reached you. Also, that you enjoyed a treat and decked out a new Barbie or two. ππππππ
