OK, I guess it's official...I love old westerns. Maybe it's just the Rifleman, but this week I got to see Dennis Hopper as the misunderstood older artist teen who had been abused by his father. His character was bullying the kids at school. He even got drunk in the saloon and was shooting it up, but of course, Lucas made him think twice with a little help from Mark. Still, Hopper's performance was extraordinary. And that must have happened before he ever met James Dean. Yeah, I'm fangirling Dennis Hopper. There might not be many of us out there. But you know, I want to meet someone like him.
"Are you crazy!" Yeah, Diggs' exact words. I shouldn't have told her about my fangirling, especially at work. She says I want someone with problems.
I didn't know what to say. But she might be right. Who's going to walk into my life like a Dennis Hopper character?
"Girl, you haven't seen Blue Velvet, have you?" Diggs pointed out that Hopper was a downright psycho. "I don't know who he was channeling, but believe me, you don't want to get mixed up in that."
I don't know where I can see Blue Velvet these days.
