The Ides of March - movie review

Don't let a political movie put you off. Especially, this one. First of all..it is a George Clooney film. That means, he help write, direct it and of course, star it. But, let not forget who the real star of this film is....Ryan Gosling.

He plays Stephen, second in command of the governor's political campaign. Honestly, this guy lives and breathes the political game. He knows his subject the governor who might be the president one day. Naturally, 30 year old Stephen has faith in this man. He loves what he stands for. He is the governor's right hand man.

But there are other cut-throats in the campaign. No, not who the governor is running for, but those who work for him. Well, the other guy's campaign manager has to have some fun too. Terrific performances by Paul Giamatti and Seymour Hoffman. Also, Marissa Tomei is sharp, and on her game in this film.

The movie isn't just about politics. It gets very personal. Especially, when young intern, Evan Rachel Wood's Molly gets involved with Ryan Gosling's character. There are twist and turns in this film.

This is definitely a movie to watch for. Especially, at the Oscars.

Max Minghella as Ben was a cool surprise in the movie to find.

Ryan Gosling always surprises me. Clooney has been around politics most of his life and it shows through his acting and directing in this film. I've been waiting for a film like this from Clooney for some time now. And its here.

STORYLINE: An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. Based on the play by Beau Willimon.
