Fiction Tuesday- The Fault in Our Stars

It's here. Finally. John Green released his newest book early because he knew his fans were waiting. THE FAULT OF THE STARS was suppose to come out in May of 2012, but he moved it up to January.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.-book description

I finished The Fault in Our Stars. So many emotions. I love this book. It’s perfect. It’s funny, original, heartwarming, it’s really something else.
The best part? Hazel Grace, the main character, yelled a phrase I thought only I use as an exclamation: “WHAT IS THIS LIFE?”-CaseyMeeks

such a beautiful moment

I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know that the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I’m in love with you.
John Green- The Fault in our Stars
Green was inspired by a young cancer patient. "I met Esther Earl in 2008. I never thought about her as inspiration for the story---it's the I've been waiting to write pretty much my whole career--but I wouldn't have been able to write it if I hadn't known her." Esther died of thyroid cancer in 2010, at the age of 16. Green dedicated the novel to her.

"This book has touched me in a way only a handful of novels have done before. It’s beautiful written, mesmerizing and thought-provoking throughout. It’s not just a book about cancer patients. It’s the one book where I feel connected to the characters more than any others. I felt like I was in their heads, feeling their emotions and their touches," says one fan about this book.
I think I'll stay Untitled

This is the story about Hazel and Augustus. These characters have moved many fans to say this is their favorite John Green book. Hazel is the narrator and 16 with Thyroid cancer who is in a cancer support group.  This book has many themes that are very relate-able. Its one of those books you'll have to re-read because you love the characters so much.

“An electric portrait of young people who learn to live life with one foot in the grave. Filled with staccato bursts of humor and tragedy, The Fault in Our Stars takes a spin on universal themes--Will I be loved? Will I be remembered? Will I leave a mark on this world?--by dramatically raising the stakes for the characters who are asking.”
--Jodi Picoult, author of My Sister’s Keeper and Sing You Home

  8. I really want to read this book, but people also made a HUGE deal about looking for Alaska and when I read it, the book really didn't appeal to me, hopefully this is different!

  9. In all honesty, I'm possibly not the biggest John Green fan, either. I couldn't get through Papertowns..and I so wanted too. I didn't like the characters in Will Greyson, Will Greyson that much, either. But I do like the idea that his fans can get excited about his books. And it is important to him to see people reading. And he is loyal to his fans.
