DARK SHADOWS

There was a lot I loved about this movie of Tim Burton's. As usual, he's got the gothic part down, perfectly. And the soundtrack was so 1972. Granted, I can understand why they whittled down one specific storyline  from the hit.. yet dark soap of the 60's, Dark Shadows to just Barnabas Collins. Since there is a generation that isn't really familiar with the old series. If you are a die hard fan of the show, well..I'm certain you'd think there was a lot missing in this movie.

While on one hand, yes, it might have took a more campy route. But how could you go wrong with the likes of Eva Green as the witch who cursed Barnabas into a vampire. This film is definitely old school with their vampires, as they should be. And this film has its powerful ghosts too.

Newcomer, Bella Heathcote definitely has something Heather Graham about her. And was wonderful in her part in the movie.

Of course, it was Chloe Moretz who stole the movie as Carolyn. It isn't until the end that we understood just how misunderstood she is.

Yes, the story was quite simple. Thankfully, there was Jackie Earle Haley to put his 70's spin on this movie. He's such a great character actor.

Yet, if only the sex scene in this movie could have somehow been transported into the Twilight films, oh what a gem it might be. Now that's sex with a vampire!

Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman was quite a treat too.

It was also cool to see Hannah Murray as the hippie chick. Be on the watch for newcomer Gabriel Freilch who was in the hippie scenes. I think we found our next Michael Pitt.

I'm  not saying the film was perfect. Yet, its very Tim Burton. If you love the darkside and enjoy his work, you don't want to pass this one up. There is plenty to smile about.
