Matty(Beau Mirchoff) is back with a vengence to get his girl... this new season on AWKWARD. But Jenna Hamilton must decide. Does she go for her hunky lover who wants to keep it a secret? Or have a true high school romance with Jake (Brett Davern). Even then, she has to tell him about Matty who is Jake's best friend. Honestly, this has to be MTV's best show. Its a 30 minute comedy but has more reality to it than most of their reality shows.
Its that age old question, many of a girl must have asked her in herself. What does she really want out of a guy? True Jenna is from the trenches of high school, which many of us can relate to. Then to suddenly find herself suddenly with a football player at camp one summer ..which did not end anything like THE SECRET LIFE OF AN AMERICAN TEENAGER.
Last season, she needed to show her school and even her self that she didn't have low self esteem due to a mysterious note and the accidental moment in the bathtub that left her with a broken arm. Still, there are questions, that hopeful will make up plenty a teen out there or anyone for that matter..about what do we really want from a relationship.
Greer Grammer's Lissa is such a character on this show!
Respect, first of all. And that is something Jake gives Jenna. He wants to be her boyfriend. He wants to do genuine boyfriend girlfriend things. Show her off to his friends that they are together. This is something Matty isn't really about. Yet, when Jenna chose Jake, it was a wake up call to Matty. Maybe.
I so wish they could soften up Molly Tarlov's Sadie on the show, but her character is still quite the bully.
Sadie at work.
In the first episode of the second season, he gets drunk at his own party and ends up with Sadie who has been crushing on him forever, but even after moment with him..she has him figured out too. I have to admit, I thought things were going to end..not where I wanted them too. But thankfully, Sadie saw through him.
It'll be interesting to see how Matty grows this season on the show. Naturally, I'm looking forward to the whole gang on Awkward!
