Celeste and Jesse Forever

Have you always wanted Andy Samberg to take on a serious role? This might be the film where we see what a dramatic actor Andy Samberg can be.

Its a movie about a divorcing couple trying  to maintain their friendship while they both pursue other people.

Celeste is convinced that divorcing Jesse is the right thing to do — she is on her way up, he is on his way nowhere, and if they do it now instead of later, they can remain supportive friends. Jesse passively accepts this transition into friendship, even though he is still in love with her. As the reality of their separation sets in, Celeste slowly and painfully realizes she has been cavalier about their relationship, and her decision, which once seemed mature and progressive, now seems impulsive and selfish. But her timing with Jesse is less than fortuitous. While navigating the turbulent changes in their lives and in their hearts, these two learn that in order to truly love someone, you may have to let them go. (Sony Pictures Classics)

So I went to a private screening of Celeste and Jesse Forever yesterday night with Anisha in LA.
Rashida Jones is flawless, Andy Samberg’s character is completely lovable, Elijah Wood was AMAZING. Eric Christian Olsen, oh how I love you and your dance moves. The best part about this movie though was that it’s real, its not a cliche romantic comedy in which everything magically works out perfectly, its truer to life and that is what makes it such a good movie. (It also has a great soundtrack!)

Go see it people.-Kari

Rashida Jones stars as Celeste.

Saw this at Sundance this past year. Samberg and Jones give great performances. It is nice to see Samberg in a more serious role and he killed it.-Pete in Progress

Its possibly the best indie love story since 500 Days of Summer. Its a modern romantic tale with a great cast.

The story line affected Samberg, who shows off dramatic chops in the film. “Time has passed, but I definitely feel more ready to have a child now than before we started shooting the movie,” he says. “I was definitely forced into that head space and thought about what it would actually be like.

I caught a screening of it tonight, and was so pleased with the movie. It’s hilarious and touching and Rashida is fan-freaking-tastic. Can’t wait for everyone to see it!-a Rashida Fan

Ari Graynor stars as well as Eric Olsen and Elijah Wood.

Also on board with the movie are Emma Roberts and Janel Parrish.

Rebecca Dayon stars as the new woman in Jesse's life.
