I've been a fan of Rian Johnson since his movie BRICK which starred a young Joseph Gordon Levitts. This is one writer director who has faith in his actors and establishes some sort of fraternity with them. I'm glad he brought JGL and Noah Segan back together again. Especially giving Noah a part worth of savoring. Also there is Paul Dano who fits right in with this movie too. Add to this circle of acters is Bruce Willis as the older time traveler. Emily Blunt was intriguing as well and lets not forget the amazing performance of Pierce Gagnon as Cid.
Now if I can explain the film enough. Yes, it is a science fiction film about time traveling. But seriously, this is a character driven story. The tale is really about the past catching up to you. And it was a great conversation with Joe talking to his older self. We see what was suppose to happen to Joe in the future. Really, Joe is just the residue of tough times. Give a boy a gun and see what happens. Of course, Joe becomes an assassin thinking he's killing the bad guys of the future. This is how he makes his money, how he lives in fashion and of course there is the party life and the drugs. Things that drag him down. Its quite a lot to absorb in the film. Some will savor it. Some will not. The world is quite an indifferent place. Not sure if its all Man's nature of doing ..or perhaps, nature itself.
|Noah Segan as Kid Blue is a great reason to watch this film. He's one of the lost boys that goes rogue. Noah is an amazing actor. I so hope this film makes him main-stream. He definitely needs to be in more film and television-ellie|
I liked how the film showed life not so completely high tech, but how there are the few that still live in the country away from the crime and yet they have to protect themselves too. This story isn't so much about the future coming to haunt someone, but perhaps a story going full circle. It is a film that will definitely give you a lot to talk about. Its great that Rian Johnson is back in rare form.
Not only is the film intelligent, it also acts as a courier for Johnson, a director of hit (Brick) and miss (The Brothers Bloom) repute following his sophomore outing.
Rian Johnson is back and may have just equaled the heights of his masterpiece Brick.- naturedoesnotintend
Over-all Looper was original, imaginative, and action packed [and not in the gross Michael Bay RANDOM EXPLOSIONS OMG GUIZ LOOK! way] all the way through, the acting was fantastic and it was all pulled together well. I loved it and I may see it again if I can afford, and drag some friends along! -Derp
|Morphing Joe into Bruce. Its kind of freaky.|
I feel like it’s a waste of much attractiveness to make Joseph Gordon-Levitt look like Bruce Willis instead of vice versa.-renleigh
I would recommend everyone to go see Looper as soon as possible. Visually great, acting was good, and the story pretty badass. I’m ready to watch it again! Not only was JGL amazing but I forgotten how much I love Emily Blunt.-daily obession
