Girlfriend

Just when I thought Jackson Rathbone would never have to act again. Maybe flash that wicked smile of his and he'd get paid. Possibly, do a Twilight reunion..here and there..it happened. He made a movie worth watching. And he's also the excutive producer. I think his company help get this independent number together.

And he's not the star of the movie, either.

Its an unlikely story. A tad controversial.  The real star of this movie is Evan Schneider who plays Evan Grey.

Its a New England story. And Evan is an adult with Down Syndrome. He's a caring young man with the heart of gold. And he's always been in love with Candy played by Raising Hope's Shannon Woodward. Honestly, she's almost unrecognizable in this film.

This is definitely a "real" film. Candy has possibly been a victim a good part of her life, but she has a child now, and she has to protect her child from his father, played by Jackson Rathbone's Russ.

Jerad Anderson from his band 100 Monkeys played Candy's other love interest.

Naturally, these are complicated characters. Russ is a dark character. He doesn't trust Candy. Therefore, he has no faith in Candy. He can't believe the child is actually his, yet he doesn't really want Candy to have a good life, either.

But Evan wants to give her everything.

Evan's mother is played by the wonderful Amanda Plummer. Once she dies, Evan's life changes. And he's on his own. He befriends Candy and Russ can't stand it.

It was interesting to see how Russ finds a way to be Evan's friend. How he pumps Evan for information about Candy. Was she really ever in love with him.

The movie has grit as well as some very poignant moments as the tale unravels. It has to be one of my favorite independent films.

STORYLINE: A young man with Down's Syndrome romantically pursues a small town single mom who is still mixed up with her volatile ex-boyfriend.

  2. Honestly, he can play a really intense bad guy. I think of the time on this TV show he played this person with a split personality. He makes a really attractive woman, too.
