MY MOVIE MONDAY

Honestly, J.H. Trumble's novel has a lot to offer. Its made the GLAD and LGBT reading list for good reason. Its truly a thoughtful book. Not about just finding love, but high school, the bullies and somehow surviving it all.

However, what I really liked about it was how the story got stronger as the novel went along. I was kind of skeptical. After all, Nate is attracted to Adam because..well, he's just perfect on so many levels. And they have a chemistry. A no denying physical attraction. But can that take them to the next level, being away from each other?

I'm thinking Drew Van Acker would make a cool headed Adam who was a little older than Nate..and possibly wiser.

Even in a modern romance, it has that old fashioned flavor of letting love go..and if its true..it'll come back to you. Our main character Nate is put to the test, especially, with the new communications of social media. Only, while Adam is away to make it big on Broadway, Nate needs the help of someone new who isn't gay. Also he needs his true friends for support.

Raymond Ablack would definitely be the character that Nate finds a real friend in ..through music and computers.
As he strikes out on his own, by blogging his true feelings about who he is and the way things are..an unlikely relationship begins. Just when I thought the story might turn into a text book scenario..thank goodness it doesn't.

The pitfalls I had with this book were the flashbacks..that was then..this is now..kind of thing. I understood why he did it, but it was a tad confusing.

I could definitely see a Jordan Gavaris type that Nate might worry about which turns into a certain kind of love, which might have been deeper than he could even explain to himself. There were moments I would have loved to have seen where this relationship might have took the main character.

What was great about the book was showing the possibilities of how love develops. Its not always going to be the perfect attraction. Yet, caring for someone can be just as golden as the lust of wanting to be next to that person.

Honestly, I would have quit a couple of chapters sooner if I were the writer, but I can see how some would want a tidy ending. And you get it.

Can't wait to check out J.H. Trumble's WHERE YOU ARE.
