Struck by Lightening

Yes! I finally got to see this on NETFLIX! It really is great to see Chris Colfer spreading his wings. He wrote the script and starred in the film!

Oh, and what a cast of quirky characters! Rebel Wilson is fabulous as the creative writer who would rather film than write. Chris' character has a terrible time getting people to write for him on the school paper. He's dreaming big, yet ends up have to blackmail them. Of course, its for his own good. Or his, since he's trying to get into the University that he wants.

Don’t listen to what people tell you because they’ll try to bring you down. And don’t listen to yourself, either, because yourself will try to bring you down even more so than anyone else. As long as you just put all your energy into one thing, it can happen.
—  Chris Colfer

His Carson hasn't had the best of luck with parents. He's practically having to raise his scatter-brained mom, Allison Janney. His grandmother in the nursing home can't remember him. Carson isn't sure he has any friends at all.

And then the worst thing possible happens..

So if you get a chance to see this little gem of a movie, you are in for a treat with such a stealer cast. Its perhaps a dark comedy..maybe a comedy drama. But it has a lot of heart. And it might be one of those films you'll have to watch more than once!

STORYLINE: A high school boy desperate to escape the idiocy of the people in his hometown trys to create a way in which he can move to New York, attend the college of his dreams and do something other than live in the foot steps of his drunken, divorced mother. Along the way he blackmails his fellow students into contributing to his literary magazine and discovers what its like to feel accomplished. Does he get accepted into the college of his dreams? Is he going to make a difference and follow his life goal?

  4. I'm happy you've pointed it out because I haven't heard of it before! I loved him in glee so I'd love to be able to see him a writing position. The cast looks great too-definetely going to have to check it out! I do hope he does well-high school settings are so hard to write without filling them with cliches :)
