Elysium

If you loved District 9 then you've got to see this film. This film reminded me a bit of THE FIFTH ELEMENT where the story is basically about the BIGGER PICTURE of things. It does have heart and it takes on a very trending topic these days..illegal aliens.

Of course, there is a little controversy that might stir some peoples minds when they watch this. A white bread world that leaves earth for the good life which Jodie Foster controls by keeping the illegals out. And she'll do it anyway she knows how..in a ladies dress suit, no less.

What I liked about the film was the International cast and the different languages of our world. Some really intellectual matter to savor. Yet, you get your action pack destruction too.

Matt Damon's Max was an orphan boy who always wanted to see how the beautiful people lived. His native tongue is Spanish and he meets Frey when he was little. She's the girl who taught him to read. Later, they meet again. She's a nurse(Alice Braga), and he's doing his best with a mundane factory job to keep out of trouble.

His girlfriend from the past, played by Alice Braga, comes along in hopes of curing her sick daughter. Well actually she’s kidnapped by Jodi Foster’s attack dog, played by Sharlto Copley.
Have I mentioned yet that Jodi Foster is kind of an evil badass in this movie? She’s supposed to be like, the bad guy, but her attack dog, Kruger, does all her dirty work for her. She’s kinda awesome, even if a little minor. I liked her character.-ria

Truly, it is a story with a lot of heart. Especially, what becomes of Damon's character. I don't want to give anything away. Thankfully, the story is laid out for you the first hour...by the second hours it gets complicated. And its got all those special effects. Yet, what makes the film different from others is the earthiness of it which the creator of District 9 always had that made the film more real. You'll get that feel from this film, too.

STORYLINE: Set in the year 2154, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.
