The setting is breath taking with all that Canadian scenery. I'm pretty sure I've seen some other movies using this location.
This movie is about finding your strength and of course, needing support of others. Its more than a movie about a blind guy wanting to run on the school's cross country team. However, it was good to see Richard Harmon (Alex) so vulnerable, and of course, the good guy.
Jaren Brandt Bartlett plays Brad the misfit Native American who is pretty swift on his feet but can't seem to stay out of trouble. We see he's being bullied by two brothers at school to do the dirty work for them, robbing old people. Lorne Cardinal who plays his father is just about given up on him. Brad is trying to do better and stay away from the boys who want to cause him trouble, but then they start talking to his little brother Ricky (new comer Lyle Reginald). I do hope we see Lyle in more shows. He and Jaren have both been in the Indigenous' Blackstone, a gritty series about what is going on in the reservations in Canada (First Nations).
Dylan Playfair played the all around mean jock who bullies Alex.
Naturally, Alex has a great mom and dad played by Craig Bierko and Jill Hennessy.
Alex also has best friend Genevieve Buechner (Who so happens to be Richard Harmon's girlfriend in real life) as Julie to the rescue.
It truly is a movie about friendship, and those are hard to come by these days.
