It doesn't necessarily have to be food. But giving is a good feeling. Especially, during the holidays. Yet, it's a good idea to give year-round. Some volunteer. Others give money and many give what they can. Every little bit helps those in need. Of course, we all find different organizations and reasons. From Salvation Army, LGBTQ, Animal human society and of course, food banks and homeless shelters (which are always in need). Meanwhile, we can be good role models for our kids or even co-workers(although, it really isn't something I advertise, but putting in a few dollars in the kettle while with my family I hope will show them it's a good thing to remember to do) It's a good habit. And it's a good feeling that you have helped. Even if only a little.
ABOUT FOOD BANKS: They are in dire need of so many things. Just don't bring a can of creamed corn and be done. Think about what they really need. I enjoy grocery shopping for things I think that might be staples in the kitchen. Yet, there is a need for disposable diapers, and hygiene products as well for adults. So think about giving food as a gift you would hope you could find at the food pantry.
9. Stay cozy and read a good winter read.
All sorts of things to read! Some want only holiday reads while others need to focus on winter. I came across the FROST BROTHERS series. Oh, it's naughty, but sometimes you might need that during the holiday stress.
10. Meeting a friend for coffee to make Christmas plans.
The weather has been really bad here. Storms and rain, rain and more rain. So not really been getting out to do much apart from food shops. And now with Omicron present the Scottish authorities are in a panic, looking like we are heading for lockdown here in Scotland.

ReplyDeleteYou are so right; every little bit helps -- as long as it's not just a can of corn! I totally saw that Eating Her Christmas Cookies book on Amazon and thought about getting it -- the only thing that stopped me was too many other Christmas reads already in the queue. That's wonderful that you got to visit with your friend. It's amazing how much just talking helps when someone is in crisis. :)
