A face in the crowd

Simone always felt she'd find that special someone at a museum. You know, the type made of money and wealthy enough to feed all her trends and handbags. But evidently, those kind of guys weren't coming to the museums anymore. Maybe in other countries, but not here in the heartland.

No, she got stuck with Ethan who was just a pain to be around. He didn't like her sitting just anywhere. And she could only stand so long in her stilettos at those high-functioning parties.

Usually, she went to the grocery store afterward and hoped for some leftover egg drop soup at the deli, but they usually didn't have any. Especially, that day she met Max, who was on a mission to find a certain kind of noodle.

"You can't live on Ramen alone," she informed him. He only gave her a smirk.

"Are you going to cook for me then?" He practically winked at her and she almost rolled her eyes at him, but she couldn't. She just watched him pick up cups of Ramen.

She shook her head.

"Well, it's your health," she told him. Funny, how it all started out as a little argument, but he wanted to know exactly what she put in her Ramen. Oh, it was far from ever going back to the museum now.

Oh, and she found out he was a starving artist. But he did know of a gallery. They were looking for someone who might know a thing or two about art.

"Um, I know a little art history," she told him. Of course, she's still waiting for that romance, but Max turned out to be quite a good co-worker.

  1. I like that Simone was looking for a rich guy to sweep her off her feet but ended up with a starving artist coworker. It makes sense, seeing as how she was husband hunting in a museum. Love that irony!
