Ugly Beauty

A story that follows a pair of twins who venture into the glittering lights of showbiz with a secret to hide. Despite their identical looks, their personalities are different as night and day. The kind-hearted Xiao Mu assumes the identity of her audacious older sister Yao Meng Gui and transforms overnight from a plain jane delivery clerk to a famous star that is known to every household. Entertainment reporter Chen Mo discovers inconsistencies that raise his suspicions regarding her identity. In order to land a scoop, he gets close to her by pretending to be her manager. When Chen Mo becomes privy to the truth, will he use it to protect his love or reveal it to the world?

The ML Huang Sheng Chi usually plays Mr. Goody-Two shoes or the second fiddle to the love interest so it was great to see him take on a role like this. Whirl-Wind Girl was his first drama and definitely just one of the team. Oceans and Mountains..unfortunately, something really bad happens to his character. While this one, you have to question him from the get go. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I started this drama. It's so much better than I ever expected.

The FL Zheng He Hui Zi is like a Lily Collins of Chinese drama. And she gets to play two parts in this drama. In the back story one twin gets adopted by rich parents while the other struggles with all sorts of run around Girl Friday kind of jobs. Once they switch places you can see just how talented Hui Zi really is.

And I really found that these two did have a lot of chemistry together. Especially when he becomes her assistant during this drama. Oddly, the actor who is the main lead in the drama confused me a lot with the ML. They practically look like twins at times. The drama has all sorts of twists and turns and of course, romance too!

  2. I love a twin-switch story with heart! This sounds like a good one, with some opportunity for light-heartedness as well as drama. Glad you got to see Chi in a new light; it's always fun to watch an actor flex his range. :)
