It couldn't be true. Just a bad case of Spring Fever, his friend said about the matter. But Lucas didn't think so. No, just the thought of Julie made him laugh. She didn't even have to do anything. Although, they'd met in art and he'd been so stoic until now.
She was fun to watch. Possibly she was helpless on occasion. He'd ended up helping her because no one else would. And then she got to make him laugh. He didn't really know what to make of what she was doing to him. He thought she might be the funniest person on the planet.
Of course, it didn't take much to make her happy either. He's won the rings for her in the arcade in the commons.
They talked about all sorts of art. Of course, he talked about comic books. She wanted to do something huge. Like murals. So they would go on the hunt for murals on buildings around the area. Perhaps, it was just a cheap thrill. Before he knew it, she actually had him paint with her on one of those murals. It seemed small towns loved having some pretty up their little town.
Naturally, she said she wasn't good enough. And he felt he was her cheerleader too. It was true, they were happy together.
Yes, in the end he wasn't sure who made the other laugh more. They watched their friends get married. Some moved away, but here they were still at the University. They hadn't even moved in with each other. But they both worked at the art department. Maybe someday they would be artists too. Until then, he liked to watch Julie's inspiration, and sometimes, he followed her lead.
Some relationships are slower.
ReplyDeleteI so heart this art class meet cute! And I love that Julie and Lucas ended up working in art, at the college where it all began. I believe in these two; they'll become artists some day. Together. :)
