Sunday tidbits

Oh, it's been a downer of sorts. But we did get to celebrate someone's birthday with a lemon dump cake that went over well. Yes, very easy ingredients. And you can serve it warm. I had baked it about two or so hours before we had our potluck. I covered it and it turned out well.

I did some sweat shirt thrifting, but didn't find what I was looking for. But I came home with a sweatshirt that is long enough to be a dress. I suspect I might need it this winter to wear about the  house. So I doubt I DIY much to  it. Funny, how you think up all these ideas and all you can find is something in the men's section. Oh, and to find somebody else's mix CD that they might as well give to you free. I did find a CORRS CD that I haven't listened to in quite a while.

Of course, we have had our first freeze. Time to think about that warm bedding. And where it is. Oh, I usually find it in mysterious places. Places I told myself I would remember, but somehow forgot. Like...why is this still in the laundry room. Oh, I was going to wash that.

I did start the new meds. Ugh..I am hoping it doesn't get worse. Yes, a few things are back to haunt me. Also I just realized I get to work on weekends after all the holidays. Now this is great for everyone else at work, because the ones who I work the weekend with only work one day. Not both, and the rest of the staff who do generally have to work those 2 days don't have to. I know it's a long time coming..but still bummerville. I don't think I'll be hosting any holidays this year.

On the upside, I got roped into lunch at our finest Chinese place in town. And my meal was paid for. I did get to visit with someone who used to work at the library. I also got a phone call from my friend in PA who of course was a little high. I am thankful I don't live in her apartment complex.

What were your first impressions of each other? Slater: That goes way back, man (Slater smiles with a laugh) I was only a kid and my best friend's sidekick for the most part. I was really quiet. I didn't know anything. But um, I knew of Gage's um..reputation. (he grins) Gage: Really, I didn't think somebody like Slater could be my friend. (he sighs) I didn't really care all that much about friends back then, anyway. But I first met Omaha and well, this guy had friends. And it was a tight circle. (he shrugs) We worked together at the grocery store and he introduced me to his....um tribe and they were just a friendly bunch. We also ate a lot of good barbecue.

  3. I'm sorry you have to work weekends. I was never a fan of that myself. And ooh Chinese. We have so little good chinese around here, and I crave it. there is a place in the mall though (the mall, I know) where I'll go just to get my fix...

I like the Slater/ Gage convo. I had to laugh at good barbecue. That sounds SO good right now.

  5. I love a good dump cake! Especially lemon. 🍋 It's getting colder here also and, yes, time to switch to that faux down comforter. I still have to wash mine too! That's a bummer about you having to work weekends but nice about the surprise lunch. I hope the new meds end up working out -- and that whatever's haunting you goes back where it came from.

I liked learning about Slater's and Gage's history. That Gage -- he's just so, well, engaging! And that little baby in the collage is so cute. 👶
