Yesterday was his birthday. He'd be 170. Yes, we know now he was ahead of his time, but no one knew back then. And as sad as his miserable life went through, generations have come to love his work and have done their best to regenerate it. One has to wonder what his real problems might have been, other than hunger and keeping a job. Yes, those kind of problems are still happening. One might wonder what would have happened to him if he showed up now days at the Stop & Go with a knife. Of course, we are a world with in a world. Thankfully we can appreciate his world even now.
Sad life of Van Gogh thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about him.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that 3/30 was Van Gogh's birthday! This is such a lovely tribute to him, and I'm touched that you used my Van Gogh Experience, sunflower, and butterfly pics! I know what you mean about imagining how he'd fair today. I read a bio about him a few years back, and it said that he was actually the sanest one at the asylum. I found that very thought provoking, especially because everyone thinks of him as the craziest of the crazies. Then again, being a genius and even a little unbalanced -- or caught between the "normal" world and someplace else -- are sometimes irrevocably intertwined. Whatever the case, he seemed a beautiful soul and brought so much light to the world. 🌟💙🌻🎨🌟💙🌻🎨🌟💙🌻🎨
ReplyDeleteMe encanta la obra de Van Gogh y su contante lucha . Lindo homenaje. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteHe will be famous for a long time. Sad though.
