"Windy, come on now," Monica motioned for her to keep going. "It's only a cemetery. It'll be brilliant!"
Windy puffed a frown. Why did she ever mention that her grandmother's love was buried here. Granted. she never really knew her, but she'd heard the stories. He was famous.
Naturally, Bex had wanted to know, "How famous?"
"I dunno." It felt like gloom now to Windy. She didn't think it was happening. After all, Monica and Bex were all talk. At the moment they seemed more like sisters than lovers to her. Monica was the artsy one, and Bex used her fists in most cases.
Yes, these were her friends and they loved to do everything after midnight.
"Maybe we could conjure something up," was Bex's bright idea.
"What?" It disgusted Windy. "You two bloody Marys or something?" Windy bit an even lip. How would they get through it?
They both cackled like they might be brewing something.
"Don't you want to be part of our coven?" Joked Monica. "You know how I love the cinema."
Yes, she held her trusty camera. It was like her extended eye. But it was dark at the cemetery. If only Windy had more than a flashlight.
"Oh, it is so sacred here," Of course, it didn't keep Bex from jumping on a tombstone.
Windy sighed. "I don't even have a name." She shrugged. He probably wasn't famous, after all. She remembered the pictures of her Granny. She was so young. Such a striking beauty. Yet, she looked like she didn't take shit from anyone. "She went to Woodstock, you know," Windy told them. Of course, she knew the two didn't care.
Really, she felt so alone in this world. At least, Bex and Monica were a couple and always there for each other. Although, Bex sometimes got carried away with the bullies. Windy felt she needed to be extra nice. Perhaps she was afraid to be her true self.
Naturally, she daydreamed of her own soul mate. He would be willing to listen to tunes with her and play Animal Crossings. It wouldn't have to be fantastic. Was it so hard to have a cozy moment these days?
She winced hard then stumbled over something at her feet.
"Watch where you're going?" Bex called out.
Windy hit her head on a headstone then. Her hat flew off and landed on top of a cross. It was as if she'd come to her senses.
They all heard the restless leaves. Of course, there wasn't a breath of air to whisk anything. She sat on her bottom.
"Werewolf!" Bex ran to Monica before she could film anything. They left her there. Windy gritted. She knew it would happen. Those two really were fools. Yes, it was true. Life was not fair. She sat there hugging herself. Why did it all feel so cold?
"Could I help you?" Someone said. His voice was male, but she could not see him there in the dark. "Did you find what you were searching for?"
"Not really," Windy shook her head. Yes, it sounded so foolish to even tell someone she couldn't see what it was really about. Although, she did not feel afraid.
"There's nothing foolish about it," that was when she saw his teeth. Windy's eyes widen. Maybe Bex was right about the werewolf. But no, it was just a guy in Doc Martins with his wolf-dog. And he was the groundskeeper here.
Interesting
ReplyDeleteOoh spooky times are here! And ooh fun ending. But... how did he know she was thinking that thought about being foolish...???????
ReplyDeleteAnd her friends ran off????
I'm two episodes in to Parallel World. I like Ni ni and Bai Yu could be Joon if he was a tad older
Yeah! Yes, Ni Ni is quite scene stealer! And Bai Yu I think is getting better and better. The episodes aren't that long. Although, I felt it takes more episodes than I'd like to get into the show.
DeleteUy me dio miedito. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteOh, I like this one! The graveyard after midnight, two tough-girl girlfriends plus one quiet single longing for love. Windy's wish to meet a guy to be cozy with is just so sweet -- and sad -- despite the dark setting. I can't help but wonder if this maybe-werewolf groundskeeper could be the one . . .
ReplyDeleteExcellent characters and suspense! 🖤🖤🖤
