Oh, you don't want to stay too long. Of course, there are acres of parking and miles to walk to get to where you want to go. And all tickets these days are on the phone.
And the traffic. You can only go so fast and file into your parking spot. I think it would be a lonely job waving in everyone with a glowing red wand in a yellow vest.
From what I hear the place grows each year. There is a lot to do. So many haunted houses for all sizes. Along with a carousel and a tilt-awhirl. There is also space for your own party. We went to the Cat Party Barn which was a space for homecooked food. I noticed the mother of the bride got a ride from the help to bring in more food. I was thinking then. Oh, that's the way to go.
We arrived early while it was still daylight. Even so, there was such a film of dust in the air. You gotta love your rustic setting to take it all in. Nothing is very level and by nightfall, better get that flashlight on from the phone if you want to get out of there. And only one major bathroom, but there are porta-potties..IF YOU DARE. And the only way out is through their general store. They gotta sell those award-winning donuts somehow. The store is full of goodies! & stuffed animals too!
I have to admit I think it's been over a decade since I had been there. I didn't remember the parking..then it hit me...oh, I went on the bus to help with my son's class and here he is now trying to help me meander to his reception. That map was no help at all, but he's always been a landmark kind of guy, a lot like his grandmother. And taking a trip to the twin K.C.'s is nothing to him.
Along the way, he told me about their new cat that showed up where he works. He was saying after a recent outbreak of rabies in the city, many strays are being caught and tested for rabies. He said the cat was very docile and definitely needed a home.
Of course, going to this party with a campfire, loads of food and drink I got to meet his musician friends and his wife's family. We have been a mystery to each other after all this time. Naturally, we were all full of good cheer and the rest of our bunch met up at dusk. I found out he was helping with the music at the museum where his wife works tonight.
Honestly, I don't think I need to go back to the pumpkin patch anytime soon. Smoke in the air. Even my clothes smelled like smoke. Still, the inspiration is there. Yes, I can only imagine what it was like for Robin Hood and his Merry Men on weekends before clubbing became a scene.
Fun though!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like quite the place. Only way out through the store- reminds me of Disney. :)
ReplyDelete"reception" WAIT was this a wedding?????
Yes rustic can be fun but there is such a thing as too rustic ha. We have a place by us like this, donuts, but it's nothing this involved.
Genial fragmento. Te mando un beso.

Some traditions keep us alive, don't they? They give us drive and purpose, and now I’m craving donuts. 🤪
ReplyDeleteOh, the perils of the pumpkin patch! Still, it sounds like a memorable time. And as usual, I love the last line:
