Love in the time of flooding

Pray for Rio Grande Do Sul.

Such a horrific stormy season. Many of us have been in dry spaces for a good  long while and when the rain hits it can be far devastating. It seems we forget these disasters these days. Of course, when I first heard this, I thought of the Rio Grande back in Texas which can be just a trickle of water during decades of drought. Although, some parts are still of struggle of immigrants trying to get across it, as well.

When I first heard of the flooding in south Brazil, I remembered how quick it could flood in the Hill Country of Texas. I am sure many have lived in areas such as this and before you know it, it feels like an ocean of some kind taking over your hometown. Of course, this flooding is taking a toll on the poor. And like all good countries we have lack of that structure and foundation of streets and homes. After all, during the dry times we were fussing about other things.

Hopefully, this is a wakeup call for many in politics during this disaster, but it's doubtful. Here in my state we do have volunteers who have come to the rescue of many that were in tornadoes. Maybe those kinds of volunteers will rescue Rio Grande Do Sul. Although, I'm sure it will be an undertaking.
