Premise: A modern take on the cases of Sherlock Holmes, with the detective now living in New York City.
while sherlock is on painful hiatus, elementary will be its filler. -M
Someone (not me) mentioned seeing a ‘Not Sherlock’ image they’d seen
more than enough already.
Someone else (me) also mentioned that the image is technically
accurate, because no, it’s not a picture of the British TV series
Sherlock and that nobody from that series is seen on the poster (unless
they’re hidden in the poster because they’re a ninja)
That person then mentioned in their tags that they were going to make a
counter-poster real quick. Here it is for you.
Pretty? No.
Gets the point across? I’d like to think so.-spacejawa
So far I really like Johnny’s Sherlock. Not 100% sold on Lucy’s Watson. We’ll see. -queenofbabble
Lucy Liu is possibly the 'straight' man in this show. She is Holmes' companion since he might have a lose screw or something. Simply, she gives the show a woman's touch. Johnny on the other hand is a rather mad Holmes who explains all from time to time. It might take more than one episode to get into this show. Meg
Sherlock Holmes is a timeless character (granada4mysherlockians)
Moffat didn’t create him or his story. I appreciate Elementary because
it’s another take on a character that Arthur Conan Doyle created, one
that is going to be recreated and modernized and readapted. Sometimes
the adaptations are gunna suck, sometime’s they’re gunna be great but
whenever you’re feeling down, remember Shirly Holmes and that show that
was made in the mid-90s where Sherlock Holmes was made into an
undercover police dog Liking Elementary doesn’t make you any less loyal to BBC-cumberwhore
Way back in 2003 this project started. After a long wait, here it is. Yet, is it satisfaction guaranteed? Lets just say without a spoiler alert to damage, we can pretty much figure this one out before the story gets started. But hey, I don't want to spoil anything.
Damn, that movie was so cray cray, they made the girl that made Katniss look obnoxious, and she was soooo nosy. Omigod I was laughing at some of the parts, because people were like
‘dude! just go back outside!’ or ‘what are you doing?! your trespassing
in a person’s house!’ and it has a wierd twist near the end that I’m not gonna say… You guys should watch it! I jumped out of my seat a few times and almost threw my popcorn bucket up XD-the fairy
Just watched House at the End of the Street and I
so fell for Max Thieriot’s character! He was lookin’ soooo good! And
once you got to see how crazy he started becoming I fell for him even
more! The crazier the better, am I right???? ;D Oh and I’d give the movie a 4/5! :)-Gia
On one hand, you've got Jennifer Lawrence who is definitely a strong enough actress for almost anything. Add sweet natured Max Thierot to the mix and well, we've got the reinvention of an old story, Psycho.
“Every house has a secret.Pray you don’t discover it.” House at the End of the Street is NOW PLAYING-house at the end of the street.
Actually, I think it better to have a psycho thriller than well..you know..a ghost story.
Its one movie to get those Halloween juices already flowing in September. It might not be the darkest horror for some, but to others it might be just what they need. Good cast. And definitely some of our favorites to watch.
I thought it was SO GOOD! It kept me entertained the whole entire movie
and it made me jump out of my seat a bunch of times. It also makes your
mind think a lot too. It’s a total mindfuck. The plot twist is
absolutely genius. I loved it. I recommend you go see it in theaters.
And Jennifer Lawrence was in it so that was a plus. And Max Theriot did
a great job too. I’d say, 5 out of 5 stars. :)-Finding Jessica
STORYLINE: A mother and daughter move to a new town and find themselves living next
door to a house where a young girl murdered her parents. When the
daughter befriends the surviving son, she learns the story is far from
over.
It just might be your favorite show this season. And its Tuesday nights on Fox! Mindy has her own unique standard of humor. And its great that she's brought it to Fox. Its fresh and oh so very real. Its in a hospital setting. Mindy is a romantic at heart. And its' not easy finding love when you deliver babies in the wee hours of the morning. Yet, you might find she has a few things going on the side. Mindy is definitely complicated. And she's a girl in the city. Its a look at modern romance.
just watched the first episode of the mindy project. was funny and cute. I could see it growing on me. excited to see the rest of the season!!-floorplan
“My body mass index is not great, but i’m not like Precious or anything, you know?”

Mindy Kaling -The Mindy Project
Cool that this song was in the show, too.
STORYLINE: A young Ob/Gyn doctor balances her personal and professional life, surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small office.
There is something so nostalgic about their harmonies. Really, love the whimsical side of their music. Its something to get you smiling..yet at the same time, a bit melancholy too.
I am not sure how or where I first heard of Stealing Sheep
but I am glad I did. Having been listening to the debut album ‘Into the
Diamond Sun’ daily for the last week I now want to make sure everyone
else does too.-The Lions Share
Stealing Sheep are just amazing, so in love with their debut album Into the Diamond Sun
right now. I’m learning this by-ear on the keyboard because it’s one of
my favourites on the album (saying that, there is at least half of the
album that is even more amazing than this). They’re doing some gigs all
around the UK over the next couple of months, I’m definitely going to
have to see them live!-nogood
While Savages was more less a fantasy, bringing down the drugworld and having a 3 way, here we have a gritty story with shakey camera work about 2 young cops who do one little thing at a traffic stop that changes their lives forever. This is one movie that delivers.
This is a dark gritty realistic portrayal of life as an officer with an
intense story thrown in to up the adrenaline. Easily one of the best
cop films to come along in a while that could have worked without the
shaky cam approach, but seems to have actually benefited from it more
than anything.-rgblakely
Just finished watching the movie End of Watch and I just, I can’t, it
was so good! I got so emotional towards the end. It really makes me miss
being in the criminal justice academy in high school and wanting to
major still in criminal justice (i have all my prerequisites in criminal
justice before switching to nursing) Holy shit tho. Such an awesome
movie. I will be replaying the it in my head on the car ride home. Damn.-LalaB
If you haven’t seen it PLEASE go see it. Definitely my favorite movie of
2012 and that’s saying a lot considering Batman coming out this year
too.-epit
Could be the best bromance of the year!
SO GOOD. Gyllenhaal & Pena = perfect chemistry.-Nata
Anna Kendrick is certainly picking the right movies.
This was by far one of my favorite police movies I’ve ever seen. I liked
it because it just felt so real (minus the cartel and the duo saving
people everyday). By real I mean that it just felt very natural. What I
liked about the movie was that it was serious at lot of moments but it
also had very funny scenes. I also really liked the chemistry between
Jake and Mike because it just felt so real. Anyways the movie was very
entertaining and very well made.-charwoo
STORYLINE: Two young officers are marked for death after confiscating a small cache
of money and firearms from the members of a notorious cartel, during a
routine traffic stop.
So I just finished reading Jonah Lehrer’s book Imagine. You may or may not have heard that Lehrer was found out to have made up a Bob Dylan quote,-phil
This book on creativity might be the worst of its kind. False quotes. Therefore there has been a recall. We've even had to discard this book at our library.
Lehrer has resigned his job at the New Yorker after having admitted to making up quotes in his book. Oddly, I think of the movie THE WORDS. Perhaps to some it might be creative nonfiction. Using someone like Bob Dylan for his muse. Perhaps he takes creativity to a whole new level. I suppose he was imagining.
This book is amazing, and it's a shame that the controversy over
journalist ethics has led to it being pulled from the shelves. A book
of this caliber certainly needs to be available to the public --
hopefully it will be back again in an edited and properly cited form. The problems with quotes,
attributions, and plagiarism are a shame, and they'll certainly haunt
Jonah professionally. But one also can't help noticing the irony that a
good chunk of the book talks about the value of plagiarism, copying,
and creative license in allowing for creative recombination. The book
itself is a creative achievement that has fallen victim to the same
principles of creative stifling that the author warns against. Bottom
line: this is a groundbreaking book and the controversy does not
diminish that. Underlying ideas are accurate and the overall assembly
and progression of ideas is eye-opening. The book is a must for any
creative professional who wants to improve their game!-Darren Bright
There is no creativity without risk, there is no risk if there is no failure, therefore there is no creativity without failure. It might be natural, then, for us to celebrate the failures of Jonah Lehrer.-Paul Reali
The effect [hyper-priming] has been reported, albeit inconsistently, in
people with schizophrenia and some have suggested it might explain why
affected people can sometimes make false or unlikely connections or have
disjointed thoughts.
As cannabis has been linked to a slight increased risk for
psychosis, and certainly causes smokers to have freewheeling thoughts,
the researchers decided to test whether stoned participants would show
the ‘hyper-priming’ effect.
Volunteers who were under the influence of cannabis showed a
definite ‘hyper-priming’ tendency where distant concepts were reacted to
more quickly. Interestingly, they also showed some of this tendency
when straight and sober.-Jonah Lehrer
“The biggest lie of human memory is that it feels
true. Although our recollections seem like literal snapshots of the
past, they’re actually deeply flawed reconstructions, a set of stories
constantly undergoing rewrites. (…) we talk ourselves into having a
memory that doesn’t actually exist.”

Jonah Lehrer: “When Memory Commits an Injustice”
(in The Wall Street Journal, U.S. edition, April 14, 2012, page C18)
While some may call it a new Bridesmaids type of movie, this film has a bit of a darker edge to it. One might even wonder if these girls are actual friends to the bride played by Rebel Wilson. Its not that... her so called high school friends are exactly mean girls. The fact is they are so into being their destructive selves. Even a decade after high school. And it doesn't help that Becky, the girl they called Pigface in high school because she's overweight, is the first to get married to the real deal prince charming Dale (Hayes MaArthur).
James Marsden's Trevor was quite the cad as the best man in the movie.
Of course, its hard to say who is the worst off friend. Isla Fisher's Katie is in dead end retail and perhaps has lost one too many brain cells to drugs, or Lizzy Caplan's Jenny.. who think she has life figured out, but still she forgets days and who she might even be... due to her self-loathing. And there is Kirsten Dunst as Regan who has a love hate relationship with Becky.
Rebel Wilson is the kind of celebrity you wish you were friends with in real life,-crushabledotcom
I've always been a big fan of Adam Scott and Lizzy Caplan together on screen ever since PARTY DOWN. These two deliver their complicated high school love life. While some parts are gritty and edgy and possibly a redundancy of the F bomb and other sluty vocab, there are a lot laughs to. Yet you might find the storyline a bit cold hearted with the mishap of Becky's wedding dress and the deadline of getting it to the wedding on time.
A constant battery of one-liners keeps comedy in the foreground
while tension simmers in the background. Fischer is the buoyant,
laugh-out-lound source of dumb (red head) comedy. Her physical stunts
and doe-eyed confusion recalling Goldie Hawn and Lucille Ball.
Meanwhile, Caplan’s sharp quips fall on the other end of the
intelligence spectrum, providing a nice balance.-chickcrit
But then you have scenes of Manny (Katie's co-worker best friend played by Andrew Rannells who so happens to be in NBC's New Normal) that really make parts of the movie priceless. Other parts are very dark and so sad. Yet its one roller-coaster of a ride that keeps you watching and smiling before long.
STORYLINE: Three friends are asked to be bridesmaids at a wedding of a woman they used to ridicule back in high school.
Carly has a new CD out. THE KISS. Of course, you have possibly been listening to all the stuff on this CD most of the summer.
She's done duets with Justin Beiber (Beautiful) and also with Owl City (Good Time).
And how many times have we listened to CALL ME MAYBE, this summer? Gotta say, the song annoyed me after awhile.
What makes ou so beautiful, is you don’t know how beautiful you are, to
me. YOu’re not trying to be perfect, nobody’s perfect, but you are, to
me.-Beautiful
that moment where the two singers you hate most make a song together-thefaultinthestars
Still, I like a lot about her new CD. THE KISS is possibly not quite as fun as the Maybe song, but I'm a bit thankful for that. I absolutely love GOOD TIME on the CD. And I can't help but want to listen to BEAUTIFUL even more. In all its a pretty decent CD. Just in case you need a Sugar Pop RUSH.
Carly might not be as young as you think. That face of hers definitely matches that sugar sweet voice. Carly is 26 and she came in 3rd in Canadian Idol. I'm sure you possibly know all of this info by now.
