Friendsgiving

The word was added to the dictionary back in 2020. Yet the word has been around forever, but it made a splash in 2004 or so..maybe because of FRIENDS. Usually, it's a get-to-gather that happens a week or so before the American holiday Thanksgiving. Sometimes, you might see a traditional Thanksgiving meal, and other times not. Let's face it, it's a potluck.

And the potluck is making a comeback in spite of the pandemic. The potluck is the party at many weddings these days. Saying this, Friendsgiving could happen anytime. Now for our 20-somethings, it might be a daunting task. So why not just bring take-away (as they say). Safety first.

Back in the day, Friendsgiving might not have been a party. It could be just two families seeing each other that hadn't seen each other in a while and making dinner together. I can remember having an impromptu meal as a kid with the neighbors. This meant chicken fried steak with all the fixings and of course a side of Ranch Style beans. I remember the time my mom's mashed potatoes looked more like gravy. Of course, you just enjoyed eating together.  Sharing. And this might be the year you want a Friendsgiving Thanksgiving with the price of everything getting more expensive by the week.

  5. This is such a happy and nostalgic post! I especially liked reading about your memories from Friendsgivings when you were a kid.

There's so much fun fall fashion in the collage! My favorite thing is the plaid skirt.🧡
