OK, it might be the least favorite book of Quinn's by most, but maybe that's why I like it. Honestly, I am not a big reader of Regency, but when I came across this one..I had to keep reading. It's a prequel to Bridgerton. Just saying Quinn does know how to reach a variety of readers. I liked the premise. It was an unusual storyline with a different perspective of the Revolutionary War..especially from the Brits POV. So I can see why many would be put off by it. Still, you have a girl pushed to her limits yet on her way to her own independence in search of a missing brother in a war-torn land. Instead, she finds that guy who is a friend of her brother's who might be on his last leg. Of course, he's grown fond of her listening to his friend's letters from his sister. THE GIRL WITH THE MAKE-BELIEVE HUSBAND does have its nightmarish moments as well as some sweet situations too!
Glad you like it
ReplyDeleteSounds good, I'd like to see the brit POV just for something different. I haven't seen bRidgerton but heards lotsa raves.
ReplyDeleteEs un genial libro. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever read anything Regency. I just got Netflix, though, so maybe I'll have to try one of the Bridgerton books and then watch it. A different POV of the Revolutionary War does sound interesting. Kind of like how Isaac and Nigel found love on Ghosts even though Isaac shot Nigel in the Revolutionary War. 👻💖
