“Are they supposed to be happy or sad? I mean, is it a celebration of the people who made it, or a memorial to the ones who didn't?”
― The Survivors
Honestly, Jane Harper has a way of putting the cozy and the raw together to make it so REAL! from the get-go of this novel. Her characters carry a richness of what it's like to live near the beach and to know the heart of family and friends.
“Finn was gone, and he wasn’t coming back. But Kieran still had others in his life. Other people he loved. Mia, reaching out for him, and Audrey, small but with so much ahead. Kieran thought about Verity and Brian, waiting for him at home.”

ReplyDeleteI donno this one!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about the beach that brings the drama? This book sounds compelling, especially based on what you say here: "Now one of the factors you have to face in this book is how Kier & Mia treat their 3 month old. You might gasp. They might as well have tucked it away in a Kangaroo pouch at times. But then again, it goes to show how even the young get a hard start to sink into." There's the lightness of the kangaroo pouch, but also the suggestion of hard-to-handle heaviness. Like I said, beaches and drama . . .
