Fan's adventure getting her college I.D.

[Fan was at a hostel at the time near the Uni. Perhaps not the best place to be when you arrive in NYC.]

Some of it I want to forget. I mean, the anxieties kept me up most of the night. Sorry, if this is TMI... 1. I was afraid I was starting my period. So I settled for jeans and of course a flannel for a jacket just in case I needed it for a skirt. I wore comfy sneakers too. 2. I kept dreaming I'd meet someone famous and all they would have to say to me was, "Oh, did you sit in something?" So I was dragging and needed extra caffeine. I didn't dress up. At least I didn't show up in my pajamas because Sean kept texting constantly with stupid questions like "Are you there yet?" It was as if he wanted me to document my entire moment of being on campus for the first time. He put me in a sour mood. It was so annoying. Possibly, my head was not in the right place. I just couldn't think straight. Seriously, it is a lovely campus and there was a certain joy in seeing all those carefree students. You know, on their phones mostly, but some were on the grass chatting like it might be 1989. I knew this was where I wanted to be. All on my own. Far from Shawn! Unfortunately, I was approached by this guy who asked me if I did flips. "What?" I felt out of my element. He seemed to think I must have been a gymnast. I didn't even know how to do a cartwheel. And then Allie came to the rescue! [Side note: Allie used to be Elliot but not anymore. I learned this after she bought me coffee since she thought I was totally a nervous wreck and she was ready to call the campus police, but I told her it wasn't that crazy.] "I'll show you agile." She informed him as she got right in his face during the ordeal, all kiwi sweet and blonde. "You want everyone to know what a perv you are?" It shut him down and he walked away. I was in shock. I didn't even know he was coming on to me. We had a good laugh over the incident and at least she knew where to go. It seemed I was headed for the sports department and didn't even know it. Of course, the line went on and on for IDs, but Allie kept her cool and I didn't mind waiting with her since she was full of info about the cool coffee shops and thrift stores nearby. Of course, I hadn't been to any of them, but we were sure to go and that made me stop worrying about being on campus all on my own. Of course, Allie wanted to know all about Sean and I responded, "He's just this annoying dude I've known forever."

  3. There's something about being on a university. A different world. I used to love the vibe when I was in school... the coffee shops, comic stores :)

  5. Talk about a campus origin story! Getting an ID never seemed so exciting. I'm so glad that Fan ran into Allie, especially with all the stress of her period and that pervy dude hitting on her.

I love Allie's pink outfit in the collage! πŸŽ€πŸ’—πŸŽ€πŸ’—πŸŽ€πŸ’—
