The Beach House 🌸 Rachel

Huck had no time to talk about his brother or his niece for that matter. They had people coming in.

Well, only one, but he was like royalty on the surfing circuit. "He'll just be here for a few days."

"A few days?" That bewildered look in her eye as if she didn't have enough to worry about being the solo staff that ran the surf shop these days. He did feel bad for her.

"I'm sorry I've been out," he nodded. A part of him wanted to be here in case something went wrong. Instead, he was being pushed by his brother to be in an upcoming competition. "I'm not having any fun either."

"Oh really?" She tilted her head as if she didn't really believe him.

"If only he would do it," Huck pouted back. There was so much to do around the Beach House. He started dinner since he knew he owed her that much. He went to chop veg for an omelet for the two of them.

"Do what? Your brother?" She was giving him that lost doe-like look as she went to make a salad.

"He doesn't surf anymore," he nodded.

"What?" She winced as if this was all news to her. "Nobody tells me anything around here." She was still in a sour mood.

"Oh, he's won some titles. Just local stuff. You know, something to help out the shop," Huck shrugged. After all, that was the only reason why he did it. Well, Mick would want him too. After all, he'd learned everything from him. It amused him now how he'd been so gullible then as a kid, but it was a different world then. Thinking he could always win on the waves. Now Cobie was counting on him. So he had to train.

"Really?" Rachel looked at him as if he wasn't telling him everything.

"It's kind of funny, his ex is much better at it than he is," Huck felt he should be taking Rachel away from here, but with Lenny coming it didn't seem possible. He knew she'd rather know the sights around here, maybe even Disneyland, but she was stuck stocking drinks and taking inventory as well as being the welcome wagon at Mick's.

"So..so Cobie has a daughter?" Rachel looked at him blankly. Huck nodded.

"It's a long story, his ex was in a shark attack off some island in Hawaii. She lost her leg. And Serena thinks she's old enough to be a pro already." Huck told her. "But she's not really helping when I'm training." He nodded. He hated to tell Rachel that he worried about her. After all, he worried about himself out in the ocean.

  1. Lots going on. Rachel slowly learning the ins and outs. Huck is interesting. Hopefully Rachel will get to see some of the sights. I'm going to predict that by th e end of summer she LOVES the surf shop :)

  3. Cobie's ex had her leg gnawed off by a shark?! Whoa. No wonder he's so grouchy! Also, I sense that Huck's brother the "retired" surf star will become a big part of this story. Maybe even a contender for Rachel's heart . . . 🌊💖🌊💖🌊💖🌊💖🌊💖🌊💖🌊💖🌊💖
