Just a week away

 Ready or not the holidays are just about here. And the closer Christmas gets I feel sometimes less in the giving mood, but I keep shopping anyway. I keep telling myself. I'm done.

I went to Umami's for lunch yesterday to meet up for a birthday celebration. Of course, I didn't really eat much due to only eating on the right side of my mouth. I think the swelling has gone down some.

 This place is probably our best restaurant in town with sushi and lots of cuisines you won't get at other places. However, I'm not much on sushi; even if I were, I would have probably choked on eating it. The eggdrop soup was really good. Thankfully, I feel better today. Still have a little swelling on my left cheek. 

Thankfully, we had lots to talk about. We talked about the museum where my son's wife works, about the developments in North O through community gardens, and the history of the local tavern in Carter Lake that has burned down several times in the last few decades. By the end I almost lost my debit card, but the young waiter found it in his apron.

Meanwhile, back home I kept telling myself to take a nap, but I'm afraid I was playing around with Co-Pilot.

Christmas weddings were on my mind. When I came across this one, I thought of my supervisor wanting to wear red to her stepson's wedding. Where she is from it's a tradition to wear red, but she knew it would be just wrong if she wore something traditional. Now she wonders if she'll ever wear the red outfit that she ordered. Of course, her own daughter will hopefully marry who she is with, in a couple of years. I mean, those two already want to adopt an opossum. Recently, she was showing me a picture of her daughter holding a huge one while they were visiting friends in Chicago who have one. We were thinking, "Not at my house." 

Oh, if only you could be that cozy out in the cold! Gotta wonder what's in those drinks! Yes, a festive Christmas Wedding party!
